Why do I need to be saved?
Our sin, in fact our very human nature, has separated us from God. We were created to have an intimate and living relationship with Him, but Romans 3:23 tells us that ALL of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We are born into our sin (Psalm 51:5), and our fallen nature causes us to continually choose sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20).
What do I need to be saved from?
Perhaps the toughest pill to swallow is the truth that we can change our habits, our choices, our mindset and our lifestyle. We can pursue morality and virtue, but our human efforts will always fall short.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
The immediate physical consequence of sin is our physical death. However, even more striking is the fact that since God is eternal and infinite, the consequence of our sin, which is committed against Him, is eternal and infinite death. It can be really frustrating to think that nothing we can do can save us from our own eternal death, but there is really, really good news. All of the work that is necessary for our salvation has already been completed on the Cross.
The only thing that can bring about genuine, life-altering, eternal and infinite change is the blood of Jesus. God took on human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, lived among us, and set the perfect example of human life with infinite value. At Calvary, He sacrificed Himself and paid the debt of sin for the entire human race. Through His shed blood, we are offered the gift of Salvation and an invitation to restore the intimate walk with God that we were created to have.
How can I be saved?
There is nothing more exciting than the truth expressed within the Gospel of John, where we are told:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
God’s perfect love for you has provided redemption from eternal death and all that is required is that you believe. We live in a fallen world where nothing is free, but in the midst of chaos that is always demanding payment and retribution, God is holding out to you the perfect exchange. Our sorrow for His joy. Our pain for His triumph. And our faith in Him for eternal life. If you are able to believe that there is an eternity stretched before you, it is our most sincere prayer that you would also believe that there is an All-Powerful God who loves you so much, that He wants to spend that eternity with you, and that He has provided a way for you to do so through the miraculous life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, His son.
We believe that Salvation is available to everyone. (Romans 10:13) No one is exempt from the gift of Salvation available through Jesus. When we confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved. (Romans 10:9)
We hope you will join with us in praying this simple prayer:
Dear Jesus,
I acknowledge that You are the Son of God Almighty. I recognize the debt of sin that I’ve incurred and that the just consequence is my own death. I believe that You have paid my debt through Your death on the cross, and that Your resurrection from the grave assures my eternal life. I ask that You forgive me for my sins and create in me a clean heart that reflects your own. Be my Savior and Lord over my life. Help me to obey Your Word and live a life that glorifies You. Thank You for saving me from eternal death and giving me a brand new life. Amen.
